The 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026 will be observed from 9 September to 8 October 2026 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), Government of India, with a focus on improving the nutritional well-being of women and children.
The overarching theme for Poshan Maah 2026 is “Hamari Anganwadi, Hamari Jimmedari”, highlighting the important role of Anganwadi Centres in nutrition, childcare and early childhood development.
Key Themes of Poshan Maah 2026
- Dietary Diversity & Adequate Protein – Promoting balanced diets, protein-rich foods, millets, pulses, fruits, vegetables and other nutritious local foods.
- Fresh Hot Cooked Meals at Anganwadi Centres – Encouraging nutritious, hygienic and diverse meals through menu rotation and community participation.
- Community Ownership & Accountability – Strengthening community participation, Anganwadi Management Committees and monitoring of nutrition services.
- Nutrition and Early Stimulation for Childhood Development – Emphasising the connection between proper nutrition, early learning and child development.
- Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) – Creating awareness about maternal nutrition, health-seeking behaviour and maternity benefits.
The launch event of the 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah will be webcast live on 9 September 2026 from 11:00 AM onwards.
Poshan Maah 2026 aims to strengthen community participation and promote better nutrition and healthy development among women and children across the country.
