Introduction to Notepad

• Notepad is a simple text editor provided by Microsoft Windows.
• It is used for writing and editing plain text.
• Notepad is useful for basic tasks like taking notes, writing code, or creating small text files.

Features of Notepad:

• Simple and easy to use
• No formatting (bold, italics, etc.)
• Lightweight and fast
• Saves files with the .txt extension

How to Open Notepad:

• Click on the Start menu.
• Type Notepad in the search bar.
• Click on the Notepad application.

Menu Commands in Notepad

Notepad has a simple menu bar with the following options:

File Menu:

• New – Opens a new blank file.
• Open – Opens an existing file.
• Save – Saves the current file.
• Save As – Saves the file with a new name or location.
• Page Setup – Set paper size, margins, and orientation.
• Print – Print the current document.
• Exit – Close Notepad.

Edit Menu:

Steps:

1. Open Notepad.
2. Type the following text: My First Notepad File I am learning how to use Notepad. Notepad is a simple text editor.
3. Click File → Save As.
4. Save the file as “MyFile.txt” on the desktop.
5. Close and reopen Notepad.
6. Open the file you saved and make changes:
   • Add your name at the end.
   • Save the changes.
