A Ranger is a person tasked with preserving and protecting parklands and natural protected areas. They are men and women on the frontline of defense in the battle against the illegal wildlife trade.
The day is an opportunity to pay tribute to park rangers who work to protect wildlife, habitats, and the natural environment.
Park rangers play a critical role in conserving the world’s biodiversity, and work tirelessly to ensure that the world’s parks, reserves, and protected areas remain safe and secure.
Park rangers face many challenges in their work, including wildlife poaching, habitat destruction, and threats from poachers, illegal loggers, and other criminal elements.
They help us to preserve ecosystems and the livelihoods they sustain by shielding wildlife and their habitats from harm. Every year World Ranger Day is celebrated on 31st July.
It was created by the International Ranger Federation. It was on this day in 1992 that International Ranger Federation (IRF) was founded.
The first World Ranger Day was celebrated in 2007, on the fifteen anniversary of the founding of the International Federation. It is celebrated to commemorate Rangers that have been injured or killed in the line of duty.
It also celebrates all the work that Rangers do around the world to protect the cultural heritage and natural treasures of the planet. On this day, many events are being organized all over the world.
