Working with sheets

1. Creating / Deleting Sheets

Insert Sheets

  • Select the New Sheet plus icon Select at the bottom of the workbook.

  • Or, select Home > Insert > Insert Sheet.
Renaming Sheets
  • Double-click the sheet name on the Sheet tab to quickly rename it.
  • Or, right-click on the Sheet tab, click Rename, and type a new name.
Copying / Moving a worksheet
  • To move the tab to the end, right-click the Sheet tab then Move or Copy > (move to end) > OK .
  • Or, click and drag to tab to any spot.
Insert or delete a column
  1. Select any cell within the column, then go to Home > Insert > Insert Sheet Columns or Delete Sheet Columns.
  2. Alternatively, right-click the top of the column, and then select Insert or Delete
Insert or delete a row
  1. Select any cell within the row, then go to Home > Insert > Insert Sheet Rows or Delete Sheet Rows.
  2. Alternatively, right-click the row number, and then select Insert or Delete.
Deleting / Hiding the rows and columns

To delete hidden rows in Excel, follow these steps:

  • Select the rows that you want to delete by clicking and dragging your cursor over them.
  • Right-click on one of the selected rows and choose “Unhide” from the context menu.
  • Alternatively, you can also go to the “Home” tab in the ribbon, and in the “Cells” group, click “Format” and then “Hide & Unhide” and then “Unhide Rows”
  • Once the hidden rows are unhidden, you can select them again and press the “Delete” key on your keyboard to remove them.
