To the Point – Toppers Tips

Limit yourself to a fixed time per Question

All your months of hard work culminate in a 2 hours performance. One technique I read a lot about and even applied in my exam paper was to constrain myself to a certain number of minutes per question type. If I exceeded that time, I mark that question and move to the next one. This way I attempt the whole paper in time and then get back to questions that I marked for the final attempt.

Key Competency-based Qs

Look for specific terms like Explain, Mention, Identify, etc. during the reading time. These questions are designed to test your analytical, evaluating and critical thinking skills, in which you must always use the concepts you’ve learned.

MCQ Hacks

  • Do not spend more than 2 minutes per 1 CQ at any cost.
  • If you are unsure about your answer, follow the rule of elimination to come up with the right option.
  • ‘Fill in the blanks’ MCQs mostly depend on definitions and theory of the chapter. Recall the concepts learnt and answer the questions in your mind first.

Answer Representation is Important

  • “Writing answers, especially with SQL commands, in a clear format should be a priority.
  • Avoid scribbling on the answer sheet and dedicate a rough space. Try not to miss any special characters while writing an SQL query. For instance, when you want to display a field, make sure to write the correct keywords
  • And the most important thing is to never miss an underscore wherever required.

Read 4m Questions Twice

Sometimes in a rush to start answering the questions, we misinterpret or miss out on subparts of the questions. Even worse, we end up providing a 2m answer to a 4m question or vice versa (which is a waste of time). Always read the questions twice to ensure you understand what is asked and how much you need to write to get full marks.

Attempt All Questions

You have enough time to read and attempt the entire question paper (with all sub parts). So, it is also recommended to attempt questions you are not sure about. Don’t miss any opportunity to score even partial marks where possible.

Thanks to Beloved Readers.
